Hello, I’m Lori Miller. It’s great to have you, here! Let me share a little about myself.
My love interest for cooking began when I was just a little girl, watching my Mexican grandmother, Guadalupe, cook fresh meals every day for our large family. When I was old enough, she taught me simple, Mexican recipes, and about the wonderful flavor combinations possible, using fresh and inexpensive ingredients.
Although I never considered cooking for a living, it was while I was living and working in Japan in the 1990’s, that I realized how much I loved to cook. Locating American food products in Japan was almost impossible and very expensive when found, so I started making everything fresh, and from scratch.
After returning to the USA, I enrolled in culinary school to pursue my dream. First, I attended the 9-month Professional Baking and Pastry Course at The Epicurean School of Culinary Arts in West Hollywood, and then the 16-month Professional Chef Training Program at the Los Angeles Culinary Institute in Encino, California.
In addition to being a trained Chef, Baker, and Menu Consultant, specializing in Gluten-free cuisine, I dabbled as an ebook author. Can you believe it? My first eBook, published in 2016, Pure Fresh Donuts: 30+ Mix & Match Paleo Recipes, was listed on Amazon’s Top 25 Best Selling Gluten-free eBooks. My second published eBook, Gluten-free Delicious: 30 Quick & Nourishing Recipes, has done very well, also. Both books are available on Amazon.com.
Outside of the kitchen, I’ve been known to binge on international cooking shows, Korean dramas, discovering new music, seeking out new foods, and watching thriller, suspense, and espionage movies. I love traveling, hiking, gardening, creating concrete plant containers and discovering new music. I’m super blessed to be married to a wonderful husband who has a strong background in cooking, too! He loves the challenge of whipping up something gluten-free for me to enjoy. We are adventurous explorers who are based in California, and are so blessed to share a strong faith in God.
I live with Celiac Disease (diagnosed in 2009 after a lifetime of health struggles), and I positively believe there are endless options when it comes to gluten-free, whole foods! I hope to inspire others, through the creations I share, here, on Substack.com.
